Iceland, Glacier Lagoon

Glacier Lagoon, Iceland
This is another image from the Glacier Lagoon in Iceland. As always in the background is the Jokulsarion Glacier. On this particular trip we spent two days exploring the Glacier and the Black Sand Beach about 300 yards behind where I stood for today's image.

A side note about Jokulsarion was part of several movies, A View to Kill, Die Another Day and Batman Begins. There a car chase scene that appeared in Die Another Day shot at this location - it was deemed the greatest movie car chase of all times - they used a Jaguar and an Aston Martin.

Image re-processed using Lightroom 4 and Photoshop CS6. I am enjoying the parametric quality of the development module sliders in LR4 - it allows for really good separation in the highlight and shadow areas.

Antique Car Detail

Three images from the antique car show over the weekend. I really enjoy the shapes on these old cars. They make excellent compositional elements, specifically the straight lines and the round shapes of the front end and tires. The reflective surfaces are an added bonus that really makes it for me.

They do not make them like this anymore - the attention to detail simply does not exist.

Dublin

Reflections - Dublin, iPhone 4
Arrived into Dublin yesterday morning at 7AM....Had a bit of breakfast and a quick nap then hit the streets. As many times as I have been in Dublin with this band or that band this was the first time I actually had the time to get out for a walk - with no cell phone ringing incessantly.

Headed over to Grafton Street then down to the river that runs through Dublin - I captured the image above from the Grafton Street Bridge. Dublin has the most amazing architecture - some of the doorways completely blew me away - hope to get an image of one next ot the hotel before departing for the drive to Galway this morning - more fun driving on the wrong side of the road.

Below is the church in Low, Quebec I attended for the Christmas Eve Candlelight Service....attendance approximately 35 people......

Caddo Lake

In November my buddy Al Hernandez and I decided to photograph Caddo Lake in Uncertain, Texas. Caddo is a huge mass of wetland on the border of Texas and Louisiana. We drove the 200 plus miles to lake from Dallas and chartered a boat to photograph the sunset and the following sunrise.

Sometime in the early 1900's oil was found under the lake, and, we all know what happened next - they built dams and starting drilling, doing much damage to the lake's ecosystem. Somewhere around 1930 the WPA established this lake as a State Park. The area has 200 species of trees, 100 grasses and woody vines, over 200 types of birds and large populations of fish, reptiles and mammals of which many of these species are considered endangered or rare.

Our plan is to make another trip back to the lake in the spring and then again in the fall of 2010 to  capture the lake in the various seasons.

Enjoy!!!
