Homage to Edward Steichen

There are so many ways to depict this bridge - my favorites being the older platinum and gum prints from Edward Steichen. Matter of fact he was the impetus for me starting to photograph the bridge -  I lived under that bridge for many years in the mid eighties.

This particular image started as a 4x5 pinhole and today I processed it on my iPhone5.....so many uses for iPhone processing and they keep getting better......

Burj Khalifa - Dubai

 Stayed in Dubai an additional day - way to much to see and photograph. I hired a guide and it turned out he really understood photography and what I was looking for. Matter of fact I almost stayed one more day.....maybe next time...

We started out at 5:45AM trying to catch the sunrise on the Burj Khalifa, the tallest man made structure in the world at 829.8 meters (2,722 feet). Not only that but the building opened on my birthday in 2010 - so I had to make an image...

Leaving Dubai tomorrow morning - what a neat place - desert, city, old world, modern and much more....stay tuned for more images on both blogs.

Hong Kong

Arrived this morning at 5AM and about ready for some sleep. Not much time for making images today - too busy fighting off jet lag. Did manage to make a few images from the balcony of my hotel room. Hong Kong is quite the bright vibrant city one would expect and quite built up from the last time I was here. Has a bit of the Dubai feel about it......construction everywhere...

This is from summer 2010. Photographed from a hotel near the bridge to Cambridge.......I was still playing with HDR at the time...whatever happened to HDR....

Made it to Carmel, Indiana yesterday - dinner with friends and past students last night - Indian Food.....always happy to catch up.....lots of talk about a location workshop next year - maybe the West Coast......

Packing the show today and off to Toledo tomorrow....I think Jamie Farr was from Toledo or maybe that was just in the Mash shows.....

I am slowly getting lost images back into the blog - the process will take weeks and weeks of tedious work. Actually am thinking about starting a newsletter instead....stay tuned...
