The Great Midwest

'And they call this the Great Midwest
Where the cornfields grow and flow
They're all 5 years ahead of their time
Or 25 behind, I just don't know'......JohnMellencamp

Greece, OPne More Church

Leaving Greece tomorrow for Frankfurt and then home on Saturday. What else to post today bnut one more church. This church lives high above the sea and would appear to be on a private piece of land, possibly a farm, although in my two visits I have yet to see a human being.

The image below was posted on my iPhone-antics site today - I placed it here so one could get the scale of the church in the landscape.

Greece

Woman in Church, Paros, Greece
Having some fun in Greece the past few days. Yesterday we drove the entire circumference of Paros in about 4 hours......Stopped for lunch in a small town and pointed at what we wanted. LOts of white churches with a blue roof, beaches and boats...has rained every day for a few hours but the light is pretty darn good after....Got back to town and was sitting in the church gaden when the woman in this image walked in and sat down....I could not resist......

Leaving for Frankfurt on Friday then back to the states on Saturday.....

Framing Angst

Landing in Bali
Nothing like driving to the frame shop thinking about what I had printed, how it was printed and what else I missed - fairly typical of that moment just before one looks at the work ready for the show. Somewhere I understand that feeling in the gut having been in the entertainment industry for most of my life. But this was my work and my vision so of course it must be different - but it is not....

In the end it is simply another brick in the wall (music metaphor) on the way to the next step of the learning process - which I believe never ends....

At any rate the images looked really good framed - and the sports metaphor of 'you have to finish' comes to mind....

Hong Kong

Arrived this morning at 5AM and about ready for some sleep. Not much time for making images today - too busy fighting off jet lag. Did manage to make a few images from the balcony of my hotel room. Hong Kong is quite the bright vibrant city one would expect and quite built up from the last time I was here. Has a bit of the Dubai feel about it......construction everywhere...

Stay tuned for more over the next few days.

Jupiter Beach, Florida

Jupiter Beach, Florida
I am leaving for Asia on Thursday (with a three day stop in The City of Angels). In addition to some planning for the trip I am printing for three shows of my landscape work, October in Ohio, November in Indiana and December in New York.

Most of the images are from our National Parks. Places like Zion, Yosemite, Death Valley as well as Caddo Lake (East Texas), Florida Everglades, Scotland and Ireland. I might also throw in a few Urban Landscapes - after all I do live in New York.

Today's image is from Jupiter Beach , Florida. My friend Doug and I went out for sunrise on this day and we were not disappointed. We were greeted by a fast moving tide and lots of color in the sky. To this day Dough and I still talk about that morning as if it was yesterday.

Stay tuned for more information about the shows -

Death Valley, Badwater Basin Panoramic

Death Valley, Badwater Basin
Been searching my archives for landscape panoramic images to use in an upcoming show and found today's image - Badwater Basin just after sunrise.

Fairly sure this image has crossed my path before, possibly as an iPhone panoramic, but for some reason I just never took the time to stitch the two images together....I read somewhere that a finished piece of art is when imagination and execution correspond and this image certainly fits that description - in this case my execution caught up with my imagination....

Definitely feel a print coming on...
