France

Chateau de Chinon, Chinon, France

This has been quite the trip...Left New York on Dec 27th and have been to Brugge in  Belgium and then on to France. Lots of driving but note that the steering wheel is on the left side and one drives on the US side of the road.....I guess it is really the French side of the road as they are much older then we are. At any rate it is nice to be able to not think about making turns etc.....
Shop Window, Brugges

Not much posting going on as the internet has been fairly non-existent or so slow one can hardly read emails. So here are a few of my favorites from the past week or so....
Chateau De Marcay, France

In the end I thoroughly enjoyed France - much more then I thought. Specifically the food was off the charts - basically we ate our way through the country. There are officially no more croissants or foie gras left in the country. All kidding aside this is one beautiful country and the locals have been quite accommodating. Today is Versailles.......

Happy New Year and all the best for 2013.

The Road and the Sky.....

I'm going to get a little higher

Udaipur, India

Boat, Udaipur Lake

OK, so I go from the Mermaid Parade to India....what?...like this is not a perfect segue...

I made two trips to India back a few years working on a project in Nathdwara, a city in Rajasthan, western India. Nathdwara means 'pathway to the Lord Shri Krishna'. On each trip we stayed in Udaipur and each day made the 45 mile drive to Nathdwara. ...This was a treacherous drive - not so much the condition of the  road but mostly because the locals thought this was a 4 lane highway. It was not uncommon for them to pass on blind turns..I think you get the picture....

Most days we took a boat across Udaipur Lake to The Lake Palace Hotel for dinner...This hotel was the former summer residence of the royal family before being converted to a fabulous hotel. The hotel is pictured below - an image I borrowed from the WWW....

Happy Memorial Day Weekend...........
