Low, Quebec, Christmas

Low, Quebec, Christmas Day 2012
'The snow is snowing, the wind is blowing
But I can weather the storm!'....Irving Berlin

Yes, it turned out to be a very very White Christmas up in Canada.....Got up early and went out and captured a few snow images on Christmas day.....Nothing gets much better then freshly fallen snow...I truly enjoy the way it defines the landscape.....

New Hampshire

'
New Hampshire

'As soon as your're born they make you feel small
By giving you no time instead of it all
'Til the pain is so big you feel nothing at all'........John Lennon

I have avoided this image for about 20 years. I see it in my lightroom catalog from time to time but have never thought to put it out. On some level this image has always represented a sort of isolation and loneliness.

I do remember having to wear tall waders while standing in the freezing water with a wooden tripod a 4x5 camera and film holders in a backpack. Must have been in the water about 30 minutes before I finally got the shot.  Those were the days my friend - those were the days.....

Captured using a Zone VI 4x5 camera, 120MM lens, Tri-x  scanned into the digital world by JS Graphics in Chicago.

Graveyard with Flowers

Not much to say today - running out to see the Krappy_Kamera show which takes place every year at Soho Photo on White Street in lower Manhattan. Anything captured with a lousy lens is eligible for entry. This year the winner was none other than Dan Burkholder for an IPhone image. Check out the links and enter next year...

The image posted here is from Low, Quebec, Canada last Christmas...

Portree Boats - Isle of Skye

This is from the trip to the town of Portree, located on Isle of Skye, Scotland. On the day we were leaving Portree I noticed that the the tide was out and there was access to the rocky shore (albeit covered with snow). Prior to that there was no way to get near these boats without high water boots.   I quickly grabbed my gear and walked out on the shore to capture this images. I had been trying to capture these boats for the three days prior but with the tide in there was no way to get in the right place to shoot.

The top version is the high resolution version, and, the one at the bottom is captured and proessed on the Iphone.
