Barn, Kane, Pennsylvania

Barn, Kane, PA
There are places I remember all my life
Though some have changed Some forever, not for better
Some have gone and some remain

All these places have their moments
Of Lovers and friends I still can recall
Some are dead and some are living
In my life I loved them all

1Matters, Gallery SHow

Urban Landscape, Yellow Taxi
It is time for my annual visit to Toledo, Ohio where I present a gallery show to benefit 1Matters.Org, a group that works with the homeless to create domestic autonomy. They are also heavily involved with homeless veterans, helping them to put a roof over their heads - something our politicians might want to pay attention to.

The link below will take you to the media for this show, as well as the website if you would like to learn more about 1Matters and the work they are doing. This organization is completely volunteer except for one part time programming manager.

Valley of Fire

Valley of Fire
'In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks'.......John Muir

Spent some time in Vegas this year and manged to get out to Valley of Fire which is about 50 miles northeast of downtown. This particular structure caught my eye - at first glance I was attracted by the faces in the rocks to the right - per-historic comes to mind. On a second look it appeared to be some sort of two-headed animal resting - note the long tail.....I have always wondered why nature provides this visual treat, and, for one, I am happy to enjoy the view.

Multnomah Falls

Multnomah Waterfall, Columbia Gorge
After the recent iPhone workshop in The Palouse I stopped by a few waterfalls just outside of P{Portland, Oregon on the way back to the airport.  There are several waterfalls along this route all easily accessed without much hiking. I am told there are many others that can be reached by foot - something on this particular day was not in the cards for me.

Multnomah waterfall is on the Oregon side of the Columbia River. The upper part is 542 feet and the lower is 60 feet.

The Palouse, Farm Gear

Farm Symmetry
Found this farm as we were leaving Colfax yesterday and simply could not resist pulling out the big boy camera for this image. After spending 8 days in this part of the country I have a new found respect for family farming.

On a personal front the people we met cold not have been nicer - we were pretty much allowed free access to photograph their farms . One farmer, Rod Hubner, even took our group on a combine ride while he and his hand were out harvesting the wheat and lentils.

Stay tuned for more images from The Palouse.

The Palouse, Washington State

Steptoe, Twilight, The Palouses, Washington State
Finally made it to a location I have heard so much about over the past few years, The Palouse in Washington State.  So far The Palouse has exceeded all of my expectation.....Stay tuned for more...

Death Valley, Badwater Basin Panoramic

Death Valley, Badwater Basin
Been searching my archives for landscape panoramic images to use in an upcoming show and found today's image - Badwater Basin just after sunrise.

Fairly sure this image has crossed my path before, possibly as an iPhone panoramic, but for some reason I just never took the time to stitch the two images together....I read somewhere that a finished piece of art is when imagination and execution correspond and this image certainly fits that description - in this case my execution caught up with my imagination....

Definitely feel a print coming on...

Telluride Aspens

Homage to Eliot Porter

“We can never have enough of nature. We must be refreshed by the sight of inexhaustible vigor, vast and titanic features, the sea-coast with its wrecks, the wilderness with its living and its decaying trees, the thunder-cloud, and the rain.”

Henry David Thoreau

Telluride

Telluride after the Rain
I was at a wedding in Telluride last weekend. And while Telluride is a difficult destination travel-wise it certainly has some spectacular scenery. It was a friend's daughter who was getting married and, of course, I brought my camera.

Just as the wedding started the rain came - only for about 20 minutes - but the light that appeared  after the rain stopped left me with the view posted today. And, yes, I also made a few images of the wedding for my friends...

All of this at 10,000+ feet...In the end it was all worth a bit of travel drama....

Telluride

What, You looking at me....
In Telluride to attend a wedding. Was out shooting in the hills and was getting back in the car when I saw this guy staring at me. On closer inspections there seem I found many faces an figures in this rock formation. Makes on wonder.....
