Vintage Gas Pumps

Vintage Gas Pumps, Indiana |
The image today, Vintage Gas Pumps was made using ProHDR and processed using this workflow - iPhone iMage moved over to the Mac and processed using Color EFX 4, Snapseed and Viveza along with curves and sharpening in Photoshop CS6-Beta. I find this opens an entirely new vision for my images and will continue to explore this post-processing technique.

Antique Car Detail
Three images from the antique car show over the weekend. I really enjoy the shapes on these old cars. They make excellent compositional elements, specifically the straight lines and the round shapes of the front end and tires. The reflective surfaces are an added bonus that really makes it for me.
They do not make them like this anymore - the attention to detail simply does not exist.
Image Management:
Canon 5DMKII
135MM Canon prime lens

Car Detail, Carmel, Inndiana |
There was an antique car show happening today just outside the gallery so naturally today's post is a bit of classic Automobile detail. Unfortunately I was a bit rushed and never quote caught the kind of vehicle this was....stay tuned for more images from the car show.

Central State Asylum
This image is what is currently left inside the Men's Recreational Room at the Indiana Hospital for the Insane aka Central State Hospital.
I wonder what that contraption with the hood is/was - some sort of hair dryer maybe.....need to get back to Central State before they demolish the buildings...
Photographed with a Canon 5DMKII, 21MM Zeiss Lens

Abandoned Hospital

Electrical, Central State Asylum |
The Apple Store Music and iPhone Presentation could not have gone better. It was the first time for me using the iPad2 and it worked perfectly. I was able to work on the iPad and see it on a screen, in this case a very large apple monitor. The only thing missing was the ability to watch the stylus actually touching the screen but a win win as one no longer needs to use a projector. The personnel at the Apple Store could not have been more helpful.
After the Apple Store a friend took a few of us to the Indianapolis Hospital for the Insane, Central State. This hospital was originally established in 1827 and opened its doors in 1848. The hospital has been abandoned since 1994. I could have spent a few days on this location and do plan to return next time in Indianapolis - so many stories in these old walls.....More images coming...
Image captured using an Alpa Camera, 47MM Schneider lens and a Phase One P65+ medium format digital back.

More Hipstamatic
![]() |
Hinkle Fieldhouse - Indianapolois |
The other night in Indianapolis I captured some live music images with the Hipstamatic Camera application with the IPhone 4. The app was not as sharp as I would have liked (low light of course) but I did enjoy the overall feel of the images after some post processing. Hipstamatic gave the images a truly live feel, grain and all...and the angle i had helped a good deal - a bigger then life feel.

Old Time Rock and Roll
I was looking through Ektachrome slides this morning and found some old rock and roll, circa 1970's images. During that time period I was shooting a lot of music images in New York City venues like The Academy of Music, Madison Square Garden and some of the smaller clubs.
The image of Black Oak Arkansas, above, was done for Circus Magazine - they actually sent me out to Arkansas to visit Jim Dandy et all at their compound - yes compound - they all lived together in a bungalow type environment. 'Jim Dandy to the Rescue'.........
The image below was captured during a video shoot in Indiana for John Mellencamp - the song was Human Wheels which was filmed in 1993 in and around Bloomington, Indiana. I was John's Tour Manager from 1984 through 1999 and always had a camera nearby for these moments.
I am hoping in the near future to get all of these older film captures scanned and cataloged.
