Jupiter Beach

Jupiter Beach, Florida
Still on the subject of water.

I drove down to the everglades about 18 months ago and met up with my friend Doug Eng in Jacksonville. Together we toured the east coast of Florida ending up on Jupiter Beach one morning at sunrise.

Well, it was quite the sunrise that morning with the water pounding the shore - the waves were jumping as high as 5-6 feet. I was entranced by the continually moving water and captured maybe 200 images that morning - mostly at a shutter speed of 2-3 seconds.

Jupiter Beach, Florida
I really liked the surreal feel that the water takes on when it is allowed to circle back on itself due to the long exposure - more or less allowing the sea to make a statement on its own. So much to see inside this image.

I converted top black and white above.

Captured with a phase one P65+ on a Mamiya 645DF using a 75-150MM lens.

Where are They

Where are They

Gothic Seascape

Seascape - Iceland
This image was captured in Iceland last July. I remember that Einar, our tour director from Focus on Nature, mentioned that this area had some connection to his family.

The rocks are called Reynisdranger (Reynis Cliffs). The mountain is called Reynisfjall (Reynis Mountain). Renir is a man's name. The town is Vik Mydral on the south coast of Iceland.

If you look closely there is a bird in flight just to the right of the structure.

Love the black white on this image....

Water and Sky

Beautiful day here in southern Florida - 74 degrees and sunny - I, personally, would not mind a few clouds at sunset. I figured out how to connect my ipod to the car stereo (5.1 system) so Jackson Browne, Leonard Cohen and David Darling are dancing around in my head.

Took my car in for service this morning and my daughter picked me up to go back to the Jupiter Beach I have been shooting on. Will probably go back again as sunset tonight and once again tomorrow morning before I leave for Everglades. After the beach we went to brunch and then she dropped my back at my car. I have not been on the beach with her for such a long time - she slept while I captured images - well she did take a few photos also.....a good time was had by all.
The images of the past week, and mostly the image posted in the header above seem to indicate my commitment to a different direction in terms of my vision. I have always been attracted to water and some of my favorite images would indicate this, but lately the attraction has become much stronger .Personally, I look forward to seeing what surfaces next....

Hampton Beach Bike

This image is somewhat confusing for me - mostly having to do with my perception of childhood. Is the viewer involved with the image or standing outside looking at a missing childhood experience. I believe the answer lies in a place between the literal image and the personal emotion one feels when viewing an image.

This image will become part of a series on Childhood Dreams.
